Biography

Throughout my youth, I trained to be a classical dancer and gained a lower back injury at the end of my intensive training. The stresses of such a competitive world led me towards the quest of self and to the practice of Zen meditation. I later joined a yoga class that practiced postures which helped alleviate the pain of the old dance injury. Feeling the benefits of yoga, I wanted to understand the postures in more detail and joined the Iyengar institute in London, where I embarked on the teachers training course.
I began to teach privately, in health clubs and at Webber Douglas; a drama school. During this time, I explored the teachings of Ashtanga yoga with John Scott and Shandor Remete and then joined a yoga theatre company called Tripsichore. This company performed yoga poses gracefully linked together, recounting stories of Indian philosophy like a Deity -ballet on stage. After six years of performing with them, I lived in Santa Barbara, California for a year. I studied dynamic-flow, Iyengar and Meditation with many inspirational teachers including Patricia Walden, Erich Sciffmann and Shiva Rae in L.A.
I returned to London to teach Hatha-yoga flow at Triyoga. I have been practicing yoga since 1992 and teaching from 1996.
In the 90’s, I independently took courses in Shiatsu and Anatomy & Physiology. In 2003, I returned to study Masunaga Shiatsu at the London College of Shiatsu and graduated three years later.
I am currently a member of the shiatsu society and hold my practice in London. At present, I am studying Movement Shiatsu with Bill Palmer as part of my post-grad year.
